Acorn Engineering Brings Hand Washing to Students in Nevada’s Desert

Three-Station Eco-Trough™ with White Powder Coat for Las Vegas School

The novel coronavirus has changed how we do everything. Businesses, organizations, and educators are currently scrambling to prepare for a safe re-opening.

“When we saw what was happening with COVID, we kicked into high gear,” said Don Morris, president, and CEO of Morris Group International. “Everyone in the company put their heads together to create fixtures that provide our customers with affordable hand washing stations wherever they are needed.”

The result is a new line of hand sinks suitable for every situation. We have Portable Wash-Ware® units that can be installed in minutes to provide added safety at screening centers, pop-up testing sites, and even construction sites. We also have permanent solutions for parks, businesses, and schools.

Our goal is to keep everyone safe, regardless of where they are working, learning, or playing.

We were recently approached by a charter school in the Las Vegas area with over 6,000 students across five campuses. They were looking for a permanent outdoor solution that would give their students, staff, and visitors a place to wash their hands before entering the building.

Our answer to their problem offered convenience and would allow students and staff to adhere to CDC recommendations for hand washing. Our solution: the durable, vandal-resistant, three-station Eco-Trough™ hand sink. This wall-mounted unit provides ample room for washing hands and maintaining proper social distancing guidelines.

Vince Miller, sales manager, Elmco® Silver State, said, “Placing the hand washing stations in a highly visible area lets parents know their kids are safe.”

Even though this was a permanent solution, Miller said that it took only two or three days to set up, including running hot water lines.

This sink includes splash guards in accordance with CDC guidelines, but we went a step further. Recognizing that the sink would be in a sunny location, we added an Enviro-Glaze® Snow White powder coat. Thus, students and staff don’t run the risk of touching hot metal when washing their hands.

“This is just another example of our engineering spirit and ‘can-do’ attitude that our customers have come to depend on us for,” said Morris.

In response to increased demand for hand washing solutions, we have expanded our inventory of Kwik Ship™ hand washing units to get them into customers’ hands as quickly as possible.

Whether you’re looking for a multi-station hand washing station or a portable sink solution, Acorn has a Wash-Ware® product right for you.
